ABSTRACT
Life skills program as a forum for self-exploration for the younger generation to improve positive behavior. Developing life skills through physical activity can improve skills that aim to grow, expand and increase the potential of students in the future. Structured physical education and sports are deliberately designed to produce quality programs that have the potential to encourage positive youth development. Life skills development programs need to be modified into fun games, one of which is a well-planned sports program. This study examines life skills education; aims to obtain data describing the life skills education system, its learning process, and its learning outcomes in continuous physical activities. This study uses quantitative methods. The design used is the Randomized Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this study were sports coaching students studying at Universitas Negeri Padang. The sample of this research was taken by using randomized sampling in this study and was divided into two groups (treatment and control). Each group consists of 50 people. The implementation of the physical activity-based life skills program will be carried out on students who are taking introductory athletic courses. The results of this study explain that the treatment group has a better score than the other groups. The result of the research indicates that life skills education programs have the potential to protect children from possible negative influences, and threats to everyday life, as a way to maximize adolescent development towards a brighter future. Implementing life skills education in sports can contribute to improving life skills and adolescent development literature. The researcher hopes that the life skills development program can be a real step in developing the potential of students, especially in the field of sports, making it easier for students to succeed in their careers in the future.
