ABSTRACT

Some problems relevant to the correct use of the dose limit quantities with special emphasis on controlling and monitoring the skin exposure in line with the generally accepted and introduced definitions are discussed. Since the present situation in ensuring adequate radiation protection of the skin is rather untransparent due to ambiguity of the concept of the equivalent dose for skin, suggestions regarding the changes in the values of the present dose limit for skin are presented.
